Dynamic Charitable Planning for Estate and Tax Professionals after TRA 2017 - With Recent Developments
Watch Now! |
---|
Estate planners need to be familiar with a good number of charitable planning rules that apply for both tax and state law purposes.
Many of these rules interact with each other and other concepts. Alan and John will present a straightforward summary that covers the normal charitable landscape for the versatile estate planner who would like to answer common questions, while also proposing Will and Trust provisions, lifetime giving, and other structures that can be remarkably simple and straightforward, once the extraneous and confusing parts of the charitable rules are squared away.
Please join Alan Gassman and John Beck for this 60-minute Straight-To-The-Point program on Dynamic Charitable Planning for Estate and Tax Professionals, which will include the following:
1. Will and Trust provisions to enable beneficiaries to receive income tax deductions when their parents or others leave assets for charity.
2. Issues and opportunities with donor advised funds and community foundations for affluent families, and methods to maximize tax savings.
3. When to use incomplete charitable gift foundations, private foundations and private operating foundations. These strategies can be quite versatile, and are underutilized.
4. Conversion between different types of non-profit entities.
5. How to have public charity status, notwithstanding control and donations being under one family.
6. The adjusted gross income limitation percentage rules, and tricks and traps associated therewith.
7. Saving income tax on the sale of appreciated assets in conjunction with dedicating assets to charity that can be controlled by the family during the remaining lifetime of the donor.
8. Structuring NIMCRUTS to maximize benefits and flexibility.
9. Choosing between Grantor and Non-Grantor CLAT status - common errors.
