Exit planning is one of the hottest topics in the financial services industry. Understandably, the sale of a business often represents the culmination of years, if not a lifetime, of a client’s hard work, and one of the most issues impacting sale transactions is how it the transaction will be taxed.

In order to effectively counsel your clients who may be contemplating a sale of their closely-held business, it’s important to master all of the unique planning opportunities that can provide your clients with greater after-tax value. While most planners have strong understanding of the conceptual aspects of partnership, S-Corp and C-Corp taxation, few of us remember all the intricacies.

Robert S.
